- Description
- This thesis aims to answer the following question: “Are international institutions used as tools by western governments to ensure greater influence on economic matters in the Global South?” Throughout this thesis, I will defend the idea that neo-colonialism was born on the praxis of colonialism. Globalisation as a form of development, and global institutions, mainly the IMF and the World Bank, are hindering the development of the Global South. By focusing on the economic situation in Africa, especially, the research aims to explain how imperial powers caused the systematic destruction of developing countries, from a theoretical and practical standpoint.
